More games are being tested and will be added here as they pass our checks.

The list is short on purpose: a game only appears here after we have played it on a computer and on a phone and written its page ourselves. The categories below explain what each kind of game is about, so you can tell at a glance whether it is your thing.

Game categories

Categories describe how a game plays, not only its theme, and one game can belong to several of them.

  • Zombie gamesHordes of the undead, scarce supplies and the constant choice between fighting and running. The best zombie games are about tension and decisions, not only about shooting.
    Game Cities
  • Action RPGReal-time combat combined with role-playing progression: experience levels, loot with rarities, skills and gear that change the way your character plays.
    Game Cities
  • SurvivalGames in which health is only one of your worries: stamina, hunger, sleep, noise and darkness all have to be managed to stay alive.
    Game Cities
  • 3D gamesFull 3D worlds drawn by the browser with WebGL. They look closer to console games and run best with hardware acceleration turned on.
    Game Cities
  • MultiplayerGames where you can meet, talk to and compete with other people in real time, usually with an optional free account.
    Game Cities
  • Real-world mapsGames built on real geography — actual streets, buildings and landmarks taken from open map data — so you can play in places you know.
